Position Overview:
The Grant Writer is responsible for securing funding to support Sharing Excess’s mission by researching, writing, and managing grants. This role plays a key part in aligning funding opportunities with program goals, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and assisting in the development of long-term fundraising strategies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in persuasive writing, and able to track financial data to support grant reporting and organizational growth.

Core Responsibilities:
Grant Writing & Proposal Writing:
  1. Research and source, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners.
  2. Develop compelling proposals and reports that highlight Sharing Excess’s mission, impact, and financial needs.
  3. Collaborate with team members to align funding opportunities with program goals.
Reporting & Expense Tracking:
  1. Maintain accurate and timely reporting for all active grants and funding sources.
  2. Track project expenses and ensure that they are within budget constraints.
  3. Assist in creating financial reports and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
Fundraising Strategy & Development:
  1. Assist in the development of long-term fundraising strategies to support Sharing Excess's programs and growth.
  2. Help identify new funding sources and partnerships to enhance the organization’s financial sustainability.
Advising & Support:
  1. Provide ongoing advice to senior leadership regarding financial strategies, grant opportunities, and sustainability.
  2. Help prepare internal reports and presentations for board meetings and funder updates.
Compensation:
  1. Salary: $55,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
  2. Flexible Scheduling.
  3. Paid Time Off.
  4. Comprehensive Health Benefits fully paid after 90 days.
  5. Retirement Plan with employer contributions after 6 months.
Work Location:
This position is remote with an expectation of availability during 9am-5pm EST.
