Job description

Our organization is seeking an excellent grant writer to help secure funding for our growing zero paint waste programs to enable us to impact lives through paint collection, paint drive event, community beautification and career development.

About Global Paint for Charity

For more than 16 years, Global Paint for Charity (GPC) has worked at the intersection of environmental sustainability, community development, and human dignity. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, GPC is a top-rated 501(c)(3) nonprofit recognized by Charity Navigator and Candid/GuideStar for excellence in transparency, accountability, and impact.

Since its founding, GPC has recovered more than 5 million gallons of surplus paint, diverted hundreds of thousands of tons of waste from landfills, and distributed paint to 44 countries, improving the homes, schools, clinics, and community spaces of more than 15 million people worldwide.

We believe a simple coat of paint can change lives - bringing dignity, safety, beauty, and hope to families who need it most, while protecting our planet from hazardous waste.

Our Momentum and Why This Moment Matters

Last year alone, Global Paint for Charity shipped hundreds of thousands of five-gallon buckets of paint, valued at more than $2 million, to communities in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Honduras, Belize, Guyana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and beyond.

In many of these communities, families live on one dollar a day or less. In the United States, a single gallon of paint can cost $38 to $50—more than a month or even a year’s income for households in fragile economies, informal settlements, and refugee camps. Because of GPC and its partners:

  • Schools and classrooms were painted and restored.
  • Women’s clinics and community centers were revitalized.
  • Homes became safer, healthier, and more dignified.

In 2025 alone, 48 volunteers and interns formally joined our team, while more than 300 additional volunteers supported paint drives and community projects. Together, they:

  • Diverted paint from landfills
  • Supported local artists and muralists in Wynwood, Miami
  • Led home beautification efforts in Tampa
  • Created large-scale murals in Atlanta and Chicago
  • Delivered hope and color across Africa and the Caribbean

At the same time, we are partnering with city mayors and local governments to launch zero-paint-waste programs that create local jobs, generate revenue, and improve neighborhoods. As the FIFA World Cup approaches across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, cities are requesting paint to celebrate national pride and unity. Demand is growing faster than our current capacity.

That is why your contribution matters now more than ever.

Recognized for Doing What Is Right

Our progress has been recognized not just with awards, but with trust from institutions that value real-world results:

  • Georgia Chamber of Commerce Membership
  • Awarded through the Fiserv Small Business Program, recognizing GPC’s contribution to economic growth, sustainability, and community development.
  • Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Membership
  • Affirming confidence in our ability to deliver measurable impact at the city and regional level through environmental solutions and workforce partnerships.
  • Atlanta Startup for Good Finalist
  • Recognizing our innovative model that proves environmental responsibility and community development can advance together.
  • Named One of Georgia’s 50 Most Influential Latinos of 2025
  • Honoring leadership that advances equity, sustainability, and inclusive economic opportunity.
  • Charity Navigator 4-Star Rating (10 consecutive years)
  • Placing GPC in the top 2 percent of nonprofits nationwide.
  • GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency
  • Demonstrating our deep commitment to accountability and ethical operations.

We also completed the ICIC Manufacturing Accelerator Program, learning from leaders affiliated with MIT, Harvard University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, strengthening our ability to scale responsibly within the circular economy.

What It Means to Join Our Team

Joining Global Paint for Charity is not about filling a role—it is about building something meaningful together.

You will work alongside a founder-led organization transitioning into its next phase of growth, where systems, strategy, data, and storytelling matter as much as heart and hustle. You will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to nonprofit leadership, sustainability innovation, and global partnerships—while directly contributing to outcomes people can see, feel, and live with every day.

Role Overview: Grant Writer

The Grant Writer will lead and grow GPC’s grant portfolio, playing a mission-critical role in securing the resources needed to scale our impact. You will plan, research, write, budget, submit, and track competitive proposals to foundations, corporations, and public agencies, while helping build repeatable systems that improve our win rate and reporting quality.

We are inclusive. If you are early in your career but eager to learn, we encourage you to apply and note your interest.

Budgets and Compliance
  • Build clear, accurate proposal budgets and budget narratives.
  • Coordinate with finance on cost allocations and ensure funder compliance
Data and Impact Integration
  • Partner with the Data Analyst Manager to source verified impact metrics
  • Incorporate ESG and SDG alignment, CO₂ avoidance estimates, gallons recovered and reused, and community well-being indicators.
Reporting and Stewardship
  • Prepare interim and final reports, renewals, and amendment requests.
  • Track deliverables, document lessons learned, and support funder communications
Systems and Documentation
  • Maintain organized records of submissions, awards, and reports.
  • Create reusable boilerplate language for mission, programs, and impact
Qualifications
  • Strong writing, editing, and persuasive communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize data, stories, and program details into clear cases for support
  • Comfort with Google Workspace; familiarity with tools like Foundation Directory Online, Grants.gov, Instrumentl, Airtable, Asana, or similar is a plus
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, research, or technical writing is preferred, but motivated learners are welcome.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative mindset
  • Passion for sustainability, community development, and global impact
