Job summary

Howard University is seeking a Proposal Development Associate to support faculty and the university in winning new awards. You will assist in preparing high-quality research proposals and budgets, including advising on grantsmanship and coordinating team efforts.

The role involves coordinating with research administrators and PIs, designing training, and contributing to intramural funding programs. Strong collaboration and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in proposal development.
• Experience in a high-functioning research development team and funding experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Analyze sponsor guidelines and advise the PI on sponsor expectations.
• Manage the full proposal development process with input from research administrators and PIs.
• Provide coaching on strategic proposal development and team organization.
• Design and deliver training/workshops to boost proposal competitiveness.
• Prepare reports on grant/contract development activities for leadership.
