Job description

The Molecular and Cellular department strives to enhance basic research excellence by establishing a robust research group focused on the molecular and cellular aspects of cancer research, particularly in signaling pathways and crosstalk between tumor and tumor microenvironment in tumor initiation, progression and metastasis, and resistance to various therapies.

The Grant Program Coordinator is an integral contributor to UT MD Anderson's research mission, providing grant coordination support within Molecular Oncology.

The ideal candidate has experience with grant submissions in a research or academic environment. Strong pre-award experience, particularly with funding agencies such as NIH, Department of Defense, and CPRIT, is highly valued. The ideal candidate brings excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills, is detail oriented, works effectively as a team player, and has experience using Excel formulas and complex spreadsheets to support grant activity.

The minimum salary is $68,500 ($32.93/hour) -- midpoint $85,500 ($41.11/hour) -- maximum $102,500 ($49.28/hour), based on a 40-hour work week.

Work location: Texas Medical Center.

The typical work schedule is hybrid, onsite 50% of the time and based on business needs, with occasional evenings during peak seasons.

Responsibilities
Grant Submission Coordination
  • Coordinate all initial grant submissions, renewals, and progress reports for a large group of principal investigators and trainees
  • Manage submission timelines to ensure accuracy, completeness, and on-time delivery
  • Work directly with faculty to identify and source non-standard sponsors
  • Support diversification of the department's sponsored project portfolio while balancing indirect cost recovery and research productivity
Pre-Award Support
  • Work directly with principal investigators to prepare grant submission materials
  • Assist with required documentation, including SciENcv and budget preparation
  • Ensure compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements
Effort Reporting Support
  • Serve as backup support for departmental personnel effort reporting activities
  • Collaborate with the Grant Program Manager and other effort report coordinators
Grant Process Resource
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for faculty and staff involved in the grant process
  • Provide guidance on submission requirements and sponsor expectations
Additional Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Molecular Oncology initiatives
EDUCATION
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Master's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: Three years extensive administrative experience or One year required experience with a Master's degree
  • Preferred: Experience with grant submissions and pre-award support, including experience working with funding agencies such as NIH, DoD, and CPRIT. Prior experience with Excel formulas and spreadsheets,
  • May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis
