Meals on Wheels People is seeking a Grant manager to lead and strengthen the organization’s grants program. This role oversees all aspects of grant funding from government sources, public and private foundations, and corporate funders. The grant manager develops and implements grant strategies, identifies and cultivates new funding opportunities, and builds a sustainable and effective grants program. Key responsibilities include managing grant development and submission processes, optimizing internal grant procedures, fostering relationships with funders, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, and preparing timely reports.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, mission-driven who thrives in a collaborative environment and excels at developing compelling proposals, managing complex grant portfolios, and building strong funder relationships. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with strong project management skills, grant compliance expertise, and a passion for helping nonprofit programs grow and succeed.

Essential Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Oversees the full range of activities required to prepare, write, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  • Research and record grant funding opportunities, deadlines, and criteria.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with funding and community partners.
  • Compiles required information and materials for the application process through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other factfinding actions and meetings.
  • Performs prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for new funding Creates and manages proposals and reports for federal, state, city government RFP’s.
  • Drafts and complete grant applications and reports according to application and funding requirements.
  • In collaboration with MOWP managers, coordinates the monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects that are funded by grants.
  • Develops and maintains annual grant calendar and master files on grants and paperwork connected to programs funded by grants.
  • Ensures activities and opportunities are entered in the MOWP donor database.
  • Performs other duties from time-to-time in order to ensure the attainment of fundraising goal.
  • Participates in in-service training and attend required meetings.
  • Supports mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Meals on Wheels People, Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or directly related professional skills and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal funding sources and the ability to locate potential sources for funding.
  • Thorough knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of grant writing, grant management, fundraising, or related nonprofit development experience preferred.
  • Proven success writing grant proposals and securing foundation, corporate, and/or government funding.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing proposals, reports, budgets, and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, develop grant budgets, and prepare grant reports.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, donor databases/CRMs, and the ability to learn new software.
  • Commitment to working effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours to meet deadlines and support organizational needs.
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
