Job summary

Job Overview

The Grants Coordinator position provides program oversight, technical assistance, and monitoring of subgrants and program evaluation for federal and state grants. Monitoring requires travel across the state to visit subgrantee programs. Travel may also include annual, out of state, federally required training and/or conferences. The position does not supervise other staff.

This position, along with the Grant Program Team, is responsible for all grant management tasks. This includes applying for federal grants on behalf of MBCC, requesting grant changes and extensions, reviewing subgrantee applications, and being the subject matter expert on each grant assigned to them. Grant team members work closely with the Fiscal Services Section to ensure compliance with financial requirements of the grants.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.

Two years of directly related work experience.

Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.

The above knowledge, skills and abilities are usually acquired through a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or closely related field, and job-related work experience. Job related experience includes program development and planning, research, grant administration, program management or other appropriate field that includes administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of program development and design techniques, strategic planning, and new program implementation.

Communication skills, customer service experience, conveying technical information

Knowledge of how to analyze and use standardized definitions and rules from a federal agency using federal, state and agency regulations and policies.

Knowledge of training techniques, information dissemination, as well as public speaking and presentations.

Considerable knowledge of data collection and analysis.

Must have the technical and interpersonal skills to analyze complex statistical and narrative information; to recognize emerging issues, anticipate their impacts on state and local justice systems; to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to diverse groups; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with grantees, social service agencies, local law enforcement, county attorneys and the general public.
