Job summary

Cenikor Foundation seeks a Grant Accounting Coordinator in Houston, TX to manage grant deadlines, coordinate reporting, and support the accounting team in funder communications. The role partners with facilities and program staff to ensure accuracy and compliance across grants.

You will help prepare budgets, assist audits, and uphold Cenikor's core values while promoting professional development within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Accounting degree required.
  • CPA seeking or preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years accounting experience required.
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct Accounting software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Document grant deadlines and communicate funding opportunities across locations.
  • Collaborate with accounting and support teams to report to funders.
  • Ensure grant reporting compliance and timely communications.
  • Support facilities’ budgeting and internal control reviews.
  • Assist with annual audits and policy/procedure updates.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and Foundation information.

SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
  • Document the grant deadlines for consistent communication regarding funding opportunities across all locations and update as needed.
  • Work with accounting department and decision support team to gather information necessary to report to funders of current or prospective grant programs.
  • Communicate and comply with all grant reporting as required.
  • Interact with the facilities business team to support their accurately and timely completion of their job duties.
  • Participate in audits, including facility audits; assist auditors during the annual audit and ensure audit compliance with periodic reviews of the accounting policies and procedures.
  • Uphold the core principles of Cenikor's culture and create a positive working environment for all team members.
  • Prepare and assist with the annual budget process. Ensure that the budget is completed to meet the deadlines, as outlined in the budget timeline.
  • Assist and direct the physical inventory of all fixed assets every even numbered year.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and Foundation matters and refer questionable issues to the CFO.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with non-exempt functions as defined in this job description.

  • Experienced in working with diverse population.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required, including MS Excel and Outlook calendar.
