Job summary

Coldspring in Cold Spring, MN seeks a Color Match Technician I to coordinate with production and quarry teams to ensure granite stock meets color, finish, and ticket requirements for customer orders. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and efficiency in a high-precision stone environment.

Responsibilities include applying and sorting tickets, laying out stone segments, conditioning slabs with dye, maintaining color records, and supporting slabbing staff.

Qualifications

• Must obtain forklift certification (training provided).
• Good color perception; not color blind.
• Solid understanding of stone production, color and finish.
• Knowledge of quarry capabilities and stock availability.
• Ability to calculate material needs and optimize raw materials.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem solving, time management and judgment.
• Mechanically inclined with basic math skills.
• Able to read work orders and production tickets; read tape measures.

Responsibilities

• Apply and sort production tickets for granite slabs by quality and specs.
• Calculate and layout work segments from granite blocks to maximize yield.
• Align blocks and edge conditions to improve efficiency and meet customer expectations.
• Peen knots and markings on granite with a peening stick.
• Use dye to mark cracks to maximize slab yield.
• Maintain color record logs and sample catalogs for reference.
• Utilize color flagging system to designate production status.
• Layout stone segments using cataloged samples to fill tickets.
• Instruct slabbing personnel on cuts to achieve required thickness.
• Manage the stone sample library and coordinate approved samples for the plant.
• Coordinate with quarries on yields and future stock/color needs.
• Create Demand tickets in Microsoft Access for quarry notifications.
• Scan granite slabs/blocks into JDE for inventory and production.
• Inspect incoming granite and inventory in JDE.
• Apply chemical treatments to improve color and maximize yield.
