The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division's Kroc Center is seeking dedicated Lifeguards to ensure safety at the pool and surrounding areas. You will enforce rules, monitor swimmers, respond to emergencies, and support aquatic programming.

Starting as a part-time role, the position requires English proficiency, at least 15 years old, and American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications (training provided). WSI certification preferred or obtainable within six months.

Qualifications

• Age 15 or older.
• English proficiency required; Spanish a plus.
• Shifts include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid certifications required before starting.
• Training available to obtain lifeguard certification.
• WSI certification in Water Safety Instruction preferred or obtainable within six months.
• Oxygen Administration certification highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Enforce pool rules and ensure safety for members and visitors.
• Monitor swimmers and respond quickly to emergencies with rescue techniques.

• Maintain pool and surrounding areas in clean, orderly condition.

• Record Keeper: Maintain records and reports as required, keeping our operations shipshape.
• Team Player: Assist with swim lessons and collaborate with our aquatic programs, enhancing the overall experience for our community.
• Continuous Improvement: Attend all in-service trainings to sharpen your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

• Age is Just a Number: Must be at least 15 years old, so dive in no matter your age!
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English is a must, and if you speak Spanish, it's a plus!
• Flexible Hours: Be prepared to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts to fit your schedule.
• Certifications: Obtain American Red Cross certifications for Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer before starting your employment.
• Training: Don't have Lifeguard training? No problem! We offer training to get you certified.
• Teaching Potential: If you're interested in teaching, the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is required or can be achieved within six months.
• Extra Mile: American Red Cross Oxygen Administration certification is highly desirable.
