Job summary

Farmers Co-Operative Society in Sioux Center, IA is seeking a Lead Grain Operations Specialist to oversee daily grain handling, including receiving, drying, conditioning, and loading, while ensuring safety and quality. You will lead grain handling staff, coordinate workflow during harvest peaks, perform routine equipment maintenance, and maintain OSHA/DOT compliance.

A high school diploma and experience in grain or industrial environments are preferred, with strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in agriculture, grain operations, or industrial environments.
• Basic mechanical, electrical, or welding skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily receiving, drying, conditioning, and loading of grain.
• Operate and monitor grain handling equipment including conveyors, legs, dryers, and aeration systems.
• Ensure grain quality standards through testing, grading, and storage practices.
• Assist with blending, transferring, and inventory management of grain.
• Load and unload trucks accurately and efficiently.
• Provide day‑to‑day direction and support to grain handling staff.
• Train new employees on safety procedures, equipment operation, and cooperative standards
• Coordinate workflow to maximize efficiency during harvest and shipping.
• Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct routine safety checks and ensure proper use of PPE.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
• Assist in safety training and meetings.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Identify and report needed repairs; assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility.
