Now Hiring: Grain Operations Crew Member – Full-Time, Part-Time, or On-Call!

Location: Midland, SD | Join Dakota Mill and Grain, Inc.

We’re currently hiring a Grain Operations Crew Member to help power our grain elevator facility in Midland, SD.

In this vital role, you’ll keep things moving—literally—by loading and unloading grain, ensuring quality control, operating machinery, and supporting the day-to-day efficiency of our facility. You’ll be working alongside a great team and playing a direct part in supporting South Dakota’s agricultural economy.

What You’ll Do:

  • Load and unload grain trucks and railcars with accuracy and care
  • Weigh and inspect grain shipments for quality and compliance
  • Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and other machinery
  • Monitor grain storage conditions and make necessary adjustments
  • Keep the facility clean, organized, and running smoothly
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance and report issues
  • Follow all safety rules and help create a hazard-free work environment
  • Provide great customer service to local farmers and suppliers

What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong work ethic and a great attitude
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug testing and physical
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work extended hours during harvest (including evenings/weekends)
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous ag or grain handling experience is a plus—but not required!
  • Safety-focused and detail-oriented

Physical Requirements

  • Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift with or without assistance.
  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
  • Frequent exposure to noise and dust
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment.
