Overall Objectives and Responsibilities
  1. Conduct sample probing, commodity grading, testing, and general maintenance to ensure smooth facility operations.
  2. Manage the flow of samples and grain to and within the facility.
  3. Serve as a backup for Grain Prober/Sampler roles.
  4. Accurately record and report test results to clients and grain truck drivers.
  5. Act as a liaison between Eurofins Grain Inspection and client companies.
  6. Communicate necessary information to the grain operations manager for appropriate action.
  7. Complete all required paperwork for clients and Eurofins Grain Inspection.
  8. Inspect and grade grain samples promptly.
  9. Test samples using visual procedures and computerized equipment for weight, moisture, foreign material, damage, and potentially mycotoxins and non-GMO status.
  10. Assist in training new Grain Inspectors and evaluate their readiness.
  11. Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  12. Operate lab equipment according to USDA grain standards.
  13. Maintain responsiveness to clients, staff, and co-workers' needs.
  14. Stay current on industry and technical advancements and suggest improvements.
  15. Maintain professional relationships and promote ethical business practices.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualities and Profile
  • Safety-first mentality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Independent problem-solving and action-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • High school diploma or GED, with 0-3 years of experience preferred.
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, communicate effectively, and lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Visual acuity for close and distance vision.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive movements, and navigate stairs.
Work Environment
  • Typically quiet to moderate noise levels in a laboratory setting.
  • Environment involves dust, glassware, and close proximity to others.
  • Temperature-controlled with potential allergens and dust.

*Must have reliable transportation.

Compensation and Schedule
  • Starting wage: $16.00/hour.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 2-5pm; rotating Saturdays 7:30am-12pm; extended hours during harvest.
