Job summary

Western Grain Marketing LLC in Illinois is seeking a Grain Handler Technician to safely handle, store, and move grain and related products within a grain facility. You will operate conveyors and equipment, perform quality checks, monitor inventory, maintain clean storage areas, and support shipping, receiving, and safety compliance.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, basic math and computer skills, and the ability to lift heavy objects in all weather

Responsibilities

SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $19.00 / hour

A Grain Handler Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently handling, storing, and moving grain and related products within a grain facility. This role involves operating equipment, maintaining storage systems, and ensuring safety and quality standards compliance. The technician is key in facilitating grain processing, shipping, and receiving activities while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Receive, unload, and load grain using conveyors, augers, and elevators.

  • Operate and maintain grain handling machinery, including dryers and storage systems.

  • Conduct quality checks on grain for moisture, weight, and other specifications.

  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper storage practices.

  • Clean and maintain grain bins, pits, and work areas to meet safety and hygiene standards.

  • Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.

  • Comply with all safety regulations, including using personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain accurate records of grain shipments, inventory, and operational activities.


Required Qualifications and Skills


  • High school diploma or equivalent or previous experience in agriculture or a related field.
