This job is primarily responsible for the safe operation of semi-tractor trailers to transport goods to designated locations. Responsible for utilizing strong customer service skills to build professional relationships with company customers.

In this job, you will:
  • Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations (ISO where applicable); including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed.
  • Operate vehicle in compliance with company rules and all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Perform pre and post inspection of vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order; complete all required documentation related to the inspection.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Maintain log of working hours in compliance with state and federal law requirements.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage in accordance with facility policy.
  • Inspect and clean all trailers and containers prior to the loading process.
  • Ensure that truck is loaded to customer weight specifications without exceeding company rules and federal weight maximums.
  • Secure cargo for transport using appropriate securing devise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Here’s what you'll need to be considered:
  • Education
    Required - High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience
    Required - None.
    Preferred - 2 years' experience.
  • License/Certification
    Required - CDL Class A license. Current and valid DOT medical card. Must meet company Commercial Driver's insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
    Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
    Ability to meet all DOT requirements.
    Ability to safely operate tractor/trailer in extreme weather conditions.
    Ability to follow directions and use logical through process to interpret oral and written instructions, and troubleshoot problems.
    Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned task.
    Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
