Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the peak work hours. From September until December hours will be 7am - 7pm.

Location: Crystal Lake, IL

Pay: $22-$25 hourly based on experience

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work safely within company policy, procedures, and governmental regulations and fully participate in company safety programs.
  • Perform critical operations to keep the facility running.
  • Assist in unloading, loading, and transferring of grain and grain products by truck and rail operations.
  • Develop knowledge of the product and its hazardous properties.
  • Understand the operation of conveyance equipment utilized in shipping, receiving, and transferring of grain and grain products.
  • Maintain all rolling stock equipment.
  • Provide high-level customer service through courteous and knowledgeable interactions.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the grain handling area and other areas as assigned.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure it is in good working order and notify management of any necessary repairs or concerns.
  • Be an engaged team member and willing to act, think, and work independently.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:

This job operates in an outdoor environment. There is exposure to grain dust, weather elements, heavy truck and machinery activity. Includes working at heights up to 150’. Harnesses and other safety equipment are required in some situations, must be willing/able to perform tasks while wearing these items.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, handle heights up to 150 feet, and work in all weather conditions. This is a manual labor job. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively. Must be safety oriented.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Previous Grain Elevator Experience preferred.
  • Previous welding or millwright experience required.
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to collaborate with a team.
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to work long hours on a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings during peak season.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
