Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate the Smartsoft program, entering all necessary information per load.
- Communicate with Smithfield Grain (SG) procurement and buyers to understand incoming and outgoing grain contracts.
- Grade grain and manage grading procedures as set by SG.
- Work with trucks and farmers to load and unload purchased grain efficiently.
- Operate loading/unloading equipment to ship or receive grain products.
- Inspect facilities daily to ensure equipment maintains proper condition of stored grains.
- Assist facility manager in scheduling logistics related to inbound and outbound grain.
- Maintain and manage inventories to maximize SG profitability, including grain movements, condition, and blending of grain/grain products.
- Identify problems or opportunities for improvement and collaborate with the facility manager to implement solutions.
- Interact with customers on a daily basis in a professional manner.
- Assist in implementing specific work or safety programs set forth by SG.
- Ensure compliance with environmental laws and procedures applicable to Smithfield Foods and Smithfield Hog Production (SIPS).
- Report environmental issues to a supervisor promptly.
- Read and understand the company\'s emergency notification process and review the policy at the work site.
- Report to work on all scheduled workdays.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Grain experience preferred.
- Able to understand and comply with safety policies and practices.
- Verbal and written communication; interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication with grain customers.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Available to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, and climb ladders as needed.
- Able to work in areas of considerable height and in varying conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Routinely exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Must tolerate cold, heat, grain dust, grain/mill odors, and noisy conditions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Vision abilities include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and perform movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talk or hear.
- Must be able to climb around elevator areas and work on concrete and unpaved surfaces for extended periods.
- Work at elevated heights regularly.
- Routinely exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Must tolerate cold, heat, grain dust, grain/mill odors, and noisy conditions.
- Must be supportive of the mission to produce and maintain high-quality grain.
- Willing to learn and perform the different areas of the grain storage process.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment and on weekends and holidays as needed.
