Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Mason City, IA, is seeking a hands-on Grain Bagging Operator. You will run grain bagging machines during harvest and bag extractors off-season, while performing preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.

Responsibilities include bagging and reclaiming bushels, quality control, and ensuring compliance with environmental and company policies. A safety-focused, team-oriented candidate is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Agriculture/Mechanical experience preferred.
• Able to operate tractor, auger, and conveyor.

Responsibilities

• Bag corn, wheat, and soybeans at harvest in a timely, cost efficient manner.
• Reclaim corn, wheat, and soybeans when procurement and mill need bushels.
• Quality control of bagged bushels.
• Accountable for grain and soybean shrinkage related to bagging/reclaimed grain and soybeans.
• Operate bagging/reclaiming equipment in a safe productive manner
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on bagging/reclaiming equipment
• Interact and communicate with farmer and drivers selling and delivering grain.
• Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Foods subscribes.
• Comply with all EMS, IPS, and Animal Well Being Policies and Procedures

Compensation:

Starting Pay: $25.00/Hour

This position is responsible for the operation of the grain bagging machines during harvest season, operation of the grain bag extractors during off harvest season, and preventive and corrective maintenance on all equipment.
