Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a grain bagging and reclaiming operator in Iowa to support harvest-season production. You will run bagging machines, operate extractors in off-season, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.

Starting pay is $25.00 per hour. You’ll coordinate with farmers and drivers, ensure bagged bushels meet quality standards, and follow environmental and safety policies while taking advantage of Smithfield's training and development programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Agriculture/Mechanical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Bag corn, wheat, and soybeans at harvest in a timely, cost efficient manner.
  • Reclaim corn, wheat, and soybeans when procurement and mill need bushels.
  • Quality control of bagged bushels.
  • Accountable for grain and soybean shrinkage related to bagging/reclaimed grain and soybeans.
  • Operate bagging/reclaiming equipment in a safe productive manner
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on bagging/reclaiming equipment
  • Interact and communicate with farmer and drivers selling and delivering grain.
  • Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Foods subscribes.

Your Opportunity Compensation: Starting Pay: $25.00/Hour

This position is responsible for the operation of the grain bagging machines during harvest season, operation of the grain bag extractors during off harvest season, and preventive and corrective maintenance on all equipment.

Core Responsibilities
  • Bag corn, wheat, and soybeans at harvest in a timely, cost efficient manner.
  • Reclaim corn, wheat, and soybeans when procurement and mill need bushels.
  • Quality control of bagged bushels.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) require Agriculture/Mechanical experience preferred.
  • Able to operate tractor, auger, and conveyor.
