Job summary

Second Mile Education in West Palm Beach, FL seeks a Graduation Coach to support on-time high school graduation. You will analyze data, plan individual graduation paths, and monitor progress for potential on-cohort students.

Responsibilities include tracking graduation rates, weekly meetings, coordinating supports with counselors and service providers, and maintaining comprehensive student records for ongoing program improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Previous experience as a high school teacher.
  • Previous experience in high school guidance strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with overage and at-risk youth preferred.
  • Knowledge of secondary education principles.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional theory.
  • Knowledge of adolescent growth and development.
  • Knowledge of post-high school planning and employment trends.
  • Ability to analyze and use data to drive program improvement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors credit recovery, earning, and attendance rates.
  • Coordinates with career coach and service providers to ensure supports.
  • Maintains progress monitoring reports and student records.
  • Uses district reports to identify potential on-cohort graduates.
  • Tracks withdrawn students and outreaches to re-engage them.
  • Conducts quarterly vertical team meetings for action steps.
  • Prepares reports for the Strategy Management Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

To provide assistance to all potential on-time graduates, individually and in groups, regarding on-time high school graduation and completion, including but not limited to: analyzing data to identify students or subgroups with potential high school graduation problems; planning, implementing, and tracking individual high school graduation plans; identifying and resolving barriers to graduation; and working to improve on-time graduation rate.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Principal, the Graduation Coach:
  • Tracks and predicts the school’s on-time graduation rate.
  • Tracks all progress of potential on-cohort graduates
  • Creates an individual graduation plan for each potential on-cohort graduate
  • Creates a database of all students in the current year’s graduation cohort.
  • Monitors and reviews all graduation components weekly
  • Meets with each potential on-cohort graduate weekly at minimum to review graduation plan and progress
  • Monitors credit recovery, credit earning and participation/attendance rates
  • Maximizes the use of SAT, ACT and PERT test waivers and participation
  • Distributes and tracks all state testing to include FSA/EOC/SAT/ACT/PERT Assessments for all potential on-cohort students.
  • Coordinates with career coach/counselor, service providers among others to ensure necessary supports and services are provided when needed to improve graduation rates for potential on-cohort graduates
  • Maintain progress monitoring reports, attendance and behavioral records, academic grades, and other student records for all potential on-cohort graduates.
  • Utilize district and organizational reports to identify potential on-cohort graduates and withdrawn potential on-cohort graduates.
  • Tracks all of the school’s potential on-cohort students who have been withdrawn to ensure accurate withdraw codes.
  • Regular outreach to withdrawn potential on-cohort students to assist them in re-engaging in school.
  • Conduct quarterly vertical team meetings with traditional high school’s faculty and staff to develop action steps to improve individual student and subgroup transition success rate;
  • Provide and/or submit reports to the Strategy Management Team on the graduation status of on cohort students
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Job Requirements And Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university is required
  • Previous experience as a high school teacher
