Job summary

American University is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Well-Being Programs & Outreach within the Center for Well-Being. The GA will design, implement, and evaluate proactive mental health and wellness initiatives, supervising undergraduate staff and delivering outreach through education and engagement.

The role supports holistic student wellness on campus and offers hands-on experience in higher education administration, public health, or student affairs for a graduate student seeking

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program at the university (preferred fields: Higher Education/Student Affairs, Public Health, Counseling, Social Work, or related discipline).
• Demonstrated passion for college student mental health, holistic well-being, and peer education models.
• Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Student Staff Supervision & Leadership: Recruit, hire, and train undergraduate student staff and peer health educators; oversee staff meetings and provide development opportunities.
• Program Development & Outreach: Design and execute campus-wide mental health and holistic wellness programs; collaborate with departments and student organizations; manage outreach requests and craft health communications.
• Administration & Assessment: Track attendance, engagement, and outcomes; prepare end-of-semester reports; manage wellness spaces and resources.
