Pennoni currently has an opening for a Associate Traffic Engineer to support the Philadelphia and King of Prussia Traffic Group. The role involves supporting current and projected workloads, including PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other public and private transportation projects within PA, DE, NJ, and VA.

The Associate Traffic Engineer will work in a team environment under supervision and mentorship of senior project engineers, participating in all aspects of project development, including field work and design.

Job Responsibilities

• Traffic analysis utilizing Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) methodologies, Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro, VISSIM, Simtraffic, etc.
• Traffic counts and project traffic volume forecasting based on ITE, state, and local guidelines.
• Traffic/Transportation Impact Studies (TIS) in accordance with PennDOT guidelines and local ordinances, including review of TIS prepared by other firms.
• Traffic signal design and plans; pavement marking and signing plans.
• Roundabout studies and designs; parking, pedestrian, and bike planning studies.
• Client meetings, public presentations, construction documentation, and proposals.

Additional Required Attributes

• Degree Required: BS Civil Engineering
• Licenses required: EIT certification is required and on track for the Professional Engineer’s Exam.
• Background or strong interest in transportation engineering, specifically traffic engineering.

Preferred Attributes

• Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
• Motivated individual with interest and/or knowledge of transportation and traffic engineering principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in ITS plan and specification development.
