The Los Alamos National Laboratory invites applications for a 12-month internship focused on elastic moduli measurements across temperatures in textured materials. You will compare elastic data with mechanical response and explore how composition and thermomechanical history affect properties of metals and alloys.
Work location is onsite in Los Alamos, NM, with potential hybrid arrangements near the site. Ideal candidates are pursuing a PhD and have a background in physics, engineering, or
The student will learn about and perform elastic moduli measurements at different temperatures in textured materials. The studies will focus on thermodynamical and dynamical properties and the changes with composition and thermomechanical history. Elastic measurements will be compared with mechanical response. By measuring materials with different melting points and textures the student will learn about different aspects related to metals and alloys properties.
Expected duration 12 months.
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
