Job summary

Montana State University seeks a Budget and Fiscal Manager for the Graduate School to lead budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, reporting to the Vice Provost of Graduate Education. The role oversees budgets, tuition waivers, fellowships, and stipends, and coordinates with HR and Fiscal Shared Services to ensure sound fiscal stewardship.

Under independent judgment, you will develop annual and long-range budgets, monitor expenditures, supervise one staff member, and partner with colleges

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or substantial experience in financial management in an academic setting.
• Progressively responsible work experience as a program, operations or business manager for a complex organization.
• Experience developing and analyzing budgets with monitoring and reconciliation of fiscal records.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership and establish budget priorities with the VP for Graduate Education.
• Oversee graduate school budgets, tuition waivers, stipends, and related expenditures; coordinate payroll issues.
• Forecast and develop annual/long-range budgets and expenditure plans; prepare reports for departments and granting agencies.
• Supervise staff and liaison with HR and Fiscal Shared Services on policy and budget changes.
