Job description

Overview

Provides exceptional patient care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures. Cultivates a patient-centric environment focusing on the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and functional needs of the patient, family, and significant others. Serves as the focal professional for continuity of care within scope of practice standards and specialty-specific standards to address and resolve problems that may arise.

Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Care
    • The Graduate Registered Nurse Anesthetist (GRNA) implements accurate, safe, patient-centric anesthetic care.
  2. Professional Skill
    • Understand physiologic implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures, monitor vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry during anesthesia according to ASA guidelines.
  3. Information Management
    • Ensure appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements, and protect all forms of information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
  4. Quality Management
    • Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
  5. Professional Development
    • Engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Current Connecticut Nursing License; application pending for APRN licensure.

Experience: Recent graduate of CRNA training; clinical experience preferred but not required.

Licensure: CT RN license, ACLS; must pass certification exam within 90 days of graduation.

Skills: Sharp concentration, calm under stress, effective communication, flexibility, and adaptability.
