Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Rail Engineer to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota office. This entry-level position is slated to begin January 2027 and includes responsibilities from design to data analysis under an experienced engineer.

The role uses OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and MS Office; requires a Bachelor's in Civil or Rail Engineering and a valid US driver's license. Sponsorship is not available for US employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Rail Engineering.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
• As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Responsibilities

• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
• Assisting in the development of Rail Project alignments, right-of-way determination, and utility coordination utilizing OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD, a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications, and MS Office applications.
• Assisting with preliminary to final design calculations and plan development, reviewing field information, possible field inspection of existing facilities, and other work consistent with the duties of an entry-level engineer.
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager.
• General office administration, including report reproduction, collation, and deliveries.
