Job summary

UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM is seeking graduates entering the RN residency program to provide safe, nurse-led care in an ambulatory setting. You will work under an RN preceptor, develop competency in patient-centered care, and prepare for transition to RN roles after licensure.

The program emphasizes growth, adherence to policies, and ongoing development through specialized training, with a 0.90 FTE commitment for night shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate nurses must have applied for or obtained authorization to take the NCLEX and secure NM RN licensure within 60 days of hire.
• Upon passing the NCLEX and completing competencies, transition to RN Inpatient or RN Outpatient on first available date.
• Adhere to hospital and departmental policies to ensure safe patient care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, direct patient care in the ambulatory setting under RN supervision.
• Perform medication administration, including IV meds, following the Seven Rights.
• Assist with tests and procedures with proper consent and documentation.
• Support discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
