Job summary

The Detroit Medical Center is seeking a Graduate Nurse (GN) to join our patient care delivery team across facilities. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, the GN delivers patient care and supports patient/family education to meet unit goals.

Responsibilities include coordinating care with the team, participating in discharge planning, documenting patient responses, and contributing to quality improvement while maintaining safety and compassionate care across shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
• Must have temporary authorization to practice as a graduate nurse under the supervision of a RN as required by law or policy.
• Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse by the state of Michigan within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to ensure consistency and quality of care.
• Under RN supervision, coordinates patient care activities including patient/family education.
• Develops and implements care plans, discharge planning, and documentation of patient responses.
• Identifies quality improvement opportunities and maintains safety standards.
• Promotes patient, family and staff safety and effective communication.
