Job description

Office Location: Duluth or Minneapolis, MN

LHB has immediate an opportunity for a Graduate-Level Civil Engineer to join our Energy and Industry (EI) Business Unit. This hybrid position can be based out of our Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota offices.

Position Summary

The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the civil site design process serving multiple EI markets including renewables, power utilities, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and mining.
  • Preparation of project plans and specifications.
  • Interact with clients, public, and agencies as required.
  • Prepare written reports and project documents.
  • Assist project engineers/managers in a team-oriented and supportive environment.
  • May lead construction administration and oversight of inspection tasks in the field.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program (May 2025 graduation will also be considered).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful completion of FE exam.
  • Previous internship experience and/or 1 to 4 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience preparing plans and specifications for bidding and construction administration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has a passion and desire to bring forward new ideas to solve challenges and be a thought-leader.
Salary Range
  • This position’s anticipated base salary range is $62,000 - $72,000 annually (This position is eligible for yearend & profit-sharing bonuses, as well as straight time pay for all hours that exceed 40 in a work week). Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
