Job summary

HTU is seeking a geotechnical professional to assist Engineers with multiple field projects and collaborate with Staff Engineers, Geologists, and Designers. You will coordinate with external clients and drilling subcontractors, perform construction observation, and conduct geotechnical field explorations.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, a valid driver’s license, and FE/EIT or plan to obtain within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil/geotechnical/structural).
• FE/EIT certification or plan to obtain within one year.
• Basic geotechnical knowledge: soil mechanics, bearing, settlement.
• Experience in coordinating field inspections on construction projects.
• Experience documenting field activities: concrete, earthwork, borings, infiltration tests.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with geotechnical software and AutoCAD/gINT is a plus.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Assist Engineers with multiple concurrent geotechnical projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Staff Engineers, Geologists, and Designers, and coordinate with external clients and drilling subcontractors.
• Work with Field staff and coordinate with clients and contractors during construction.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing.
• Conduct geotechnical field explorations such as test borings, test pits, and infiltration testing.
• Assist with geotechnical engineering investigations, prepare reports, and develop recommendations.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline, preferably Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for field work.
• FE/EIT certification or willingness to obtain EIT within one year of hire.
• Basic geotechnical engineering experience including knowledge of soil mechanics, bearing capacity, and settlement.
• Professional experience in construction projects, capable of coordinating and overseeing field-based construction inspection operations.
• Experience observing and documenting construction activities such as concrete placement, foundation construction, earthwork, infiltration testing, survey and layout, test pits, and test borings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with engineering tools such as geotechnical engineering software, CADD; exposure to AutoCAD and/or gINT is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision and a positive attitude.
• Excellent organizational skills to multi-task and prioritize assignments effectively to meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
