Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. in Wisconsin seeks a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to support multiple disciplines including geotechnical, structural, and water resources on engineering projects.

This role includes field work, data collection, report writing, and coordination with clients and regulators, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• E.I.T. desirable and ability to pursue registration.
• 0–4 years in civil/geotechnical/structural engineering and consulting.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; CAD/Civil 3D/Revit desirable.
• Experience with geotechnical software like GeoStudio and design programs like ENERCALC, SAP2000, STAAD, RISA desirable.
• Willingness to travel for field assignments and field tasks.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Support multidisciplinary engineering work across geotechnical, structural, and civil disciplines.
• Assist in feasibility studies, cost estimates, drawings, specifications, and bid evaluation tools.
• Conduct site investigations, soil/aggregate testing, and supervise subcontractors.
• Collect field data and support data management and analysis.
• Prepare technical reports and assist with client/regulator presentations.
• Perform construction observation and data collection for various projects.

Job description

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

• Support services in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: Geotechnical Engineering (Slope Stability, Seepage, Foundations), Structural (Excavations Support, Concrete/Steel Structures, Tunnel Reinforcement), Solid Waste (Landfill Design and Construction Quality Assurance), Civil Engineering (Site Development), or Water Resources (Hydrology and Hydraulics).
• Support the development of decision‑making documents such as feasibility studies and cost estimates, design and procurement documents such as engineering drawings and specification packages, and tools for contractor bid evaluation and oversight.
• Support site investigations and assessments including soil borings and testing, facility inspections, sampling of concrete and soil, and technical oversight of subcontractors.
• Collect geotechnical/structural data at sites.
• Support data management and engineering analysis, technical report development, and assist in preparation of technical presentations and proposals to clients and regulators.
• Perform construction observation and documentation, materials testing services, and data collection for dams, landfills, buildings, and other infrastructure projects.
• This position has a field component; travel for extended durations may be required and candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering, or related degree; M.S. is desirable.
• E.I.T. is desirable, and ability to work toward professional registration.
• 0–4 years of previous professional experience in civil / geotechnical / structural engineering and consulting; knowledge and familiarity with engineering design processes.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, MS Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, and other computer applications. CAD, Civil 3D, and Revit experience is desirable.
• Experience with geotechnical analysis software such as GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W or SIGMA/W), and analysis and design software (ENERCALC, MathCAD, SAP2000, STAAD, RISA) is desirable.
• Ability to work well alone and in a team atmosphere.
• Ability and willingness to travel for short‑term and long‑term field assignments as needed.
• Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
