Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Fire and Life Safety team. As a new graduate, you will support code consulting, system design/evaluation, fire modeling, and other tasks for a diverse client base across the East Region and the U.S.

This hybrid role blends in‑office collaboration three days a week with flexible work. You will perform building/fire code consultation, develop contract documents for fire protection systems, and coordinate with clients, architects,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in evaluation/design of Fire Protection Systems.
• Familiarity with NFPA Standards, Life Safety Code requirements.
• Exposure to fire modeling tools (FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST).
• AutoCAD and/or REVIT design capability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing building/fire code consultation.
• Developing contract documents for fire protection and fire suppression systems.
• Designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, standpipes, pumps, special hazards).
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Conducting site investigations, construction phase services, commissioning, and acceptance testing.

We’re looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Fire and Life Safety team! As a new graduate, you will support a wide variety of projects involving code consulting, system design/evaluation, fire modeling, etc. for a diverse group of clientele throughout the East Region and across the U.S.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Performing building/fire code consultation
• Developing contract documents for fire alarm, fire protection and fire suppression systems (including Special Suppression Systems)
• Designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems, including sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, and special hazard systems.
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction throughout project delivery.
• Conducting site investigations, construction phase services, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in the evaluation and/or design of Fire Protection Systems
• Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards, including Life Safety Code Requirements for both new construction and modifications to existing buildings
• Exposure to the application of fire modeling (i.e. FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST, etc.)
• AutoCAD and/or REVIT design capability and experience is preferred.

• Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee

Salary Range: $73,000-$82,000 based on experience and location.
