Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking a motivated Graduate Facades Engineer to join our New York team and contribute to innovative, sustainable building envelope designs. You will work alongside leading engineers, gain hands-on experience across façade performance modeling (Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, SketchUp, AutoCAD) and learn enclosure detailing while supporting project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Coursework in façade materials and building envelope physics beneficial.
• 3D modeling skills (Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, SketchUp, AutoCAD) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out structural, thermal and energy modeling of building enclosure details and systems.
• Utilize advanced analysis programs and techniques to understand building enclosure performance and façade design.
• Learn enclosure detailing principles including all 6 sides of the building enclosure.
• Learn to write technical specifications for all aspects of the building enclosure.
• Undertake engineering calculations with materials such as structural glass, aluminum, stainless steel, wood, stone, and precast concrete.
• Perform technical reviews of shop drawings and construction submittals for air, water, thermal, seismic, acoustic, and structural performance.
• Deliver work in a timely and technically competent manner.
• Participate in site visits and prepare site observation reports.

Your key duties

Your Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture , Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related science or engineering discipline
• Coursework in façade materials and assemblies, façade engineering, building envelope physics, and/or thermal modeling skills beneficial
• 3D modeling skills (Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, SketchUp, AutoCAD, etc ) preferred
• Interest in the façade industry with emphasis on detailing and engineering
• Good sketching skills
• Internship experience in façade or engineering beneficial
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
• Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team

What we offer

Salary range of $80,000 to $83,000.
