Job description

Title: Graduate Engineer III

Division: Land Development

Summary: We are looking for a civil engineering EIT with 3 years of experience to apply engineering design principles for residential land development infrastructure projects.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Lead design tasks in the production of project plans, specifications, and cost estimates for multiple projects.
  2. Responsible for preparation of feasibility studies and developing quality designs of water, sanitary, storm sewer, paving, and detention facilities under the mentorship of senior staff.
  3. Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project’s purpose and need.
  4. Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  5. Prepare a range of reports including technical and non-technical reports to communicate project information to team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
  6. Mentor and direct production work of other engineers-in-training, designers, and technicians.
  7. Attend design meetings and interact with clients at his or her level of experience.
  8. Independently perform engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives.
  9. Work is reviewed for the application of sound professional judgment.
  10. Coordinate with outside sub-consultants.
  11. Perform field-based activities like coordination with construction services, inspections, and/or reviewing sites with client groups.

Required Education/Licenses:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
  2. Certified Engineer-in-Training.

Required Experience:

  1. 3+ years of post-graduate experience or master’s degree and 1-2 years of post-master’s experience.
  2. Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office Suite.
  3. Strong communication skills.
  4. Understanding of local governmental public development codes and ordinances.
  5. Ability to build strong relationships with other employees, clients, and public agencies.
