Job summary

Dashiell Corporation is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer in the United States to support transmission line and substation design under close supervision. You will contribute to civil and structural drawings, perform wind load analyses, and learn standards such as NESC and IEEE.

This entry-level role emphasizes hands-on training, teamwork, and professional development, with site visits and travel as required, while progressing toward professional credentials and independent design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• EIT certification required or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Internship and/or related work experience in structural design preferred.
• Knowledge of steel and concrete design.
• Basic knowledge of structural analysis.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and email.
• Team environment and effective communication with coworkers, vendors, clients, etc.

Responsibilities

Job description

Primary Function:

As a member of a project team, the Graduate Civil Engineer will perform engineering and design duties for transmission line or substation design, which require application of engineering principles. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to further develop an employee’s job knowledge and abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with a project team to create or modify all civil and structural design documents and drawings for a project, under direct supervision.
• Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations and structural analysis, with minimal supervision.
• Learn and apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI.
• Learn and properly use the document management system.
• Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
• Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and design.
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required, a structural background preferred. Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of hire is required. Prior internship and/or related work experience in structural design is preferred.

Possess skills in the following areas:

• Knowledge of steel and concrete design.
• Basic knowledge of structural analysis.
• Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software.
• Working in a team environment.
• Communicating effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc.
