Job description

Join to apply for the Graduate Civil Engineer role at Pennoni.

We are hiring for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team on a full-time, direct basis in the Raleigh, NC area. This person will assist on multi-discipline designs for site development projects (public & private). The role primarily supports Staff and Project Engineers in various project phases, including conceptual/planning, preliminary design, detailed design, construction documentation, permitting, and engineering reports.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Perform site design work, including site layout, grading, and utilities.
  2. Evaluate land development feasibility through site assessments.
  3. Review local municipal ordinances and state regulations.
  4. Assist in preparing plans for permitting and construction.
  5. Conduct design quantity take-offs and develop construction cost estimates.
  6. Prepare permit applications and engineering reports demonstrating compliance.
  7. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (e.g., Construction, Environmental Engineering).
Preferred Qualifications
  • FE / EIT certification.
  • Experience with greenfield/land development or water resource projects.
  • Experience with stormwater management calculations using Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) tools.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, and basic office applications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
