Job summary

Pennoni is seeking a Graduate/Associate Highway Engineer for the Transportation Division in the Lehigh Valley, PA office. The ideal candidate has experience in transportation engineering including PennDOT HOP prep and review, roadway and drainage design, ADA ramp design, and maintenance and protection of traffic plans.

Candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, 1–5 years of experience, and familiarity with PennDOT/AASHTO design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 1–5 years of work experience preferred.
• EIT – Professional Engineer in PA preferred.
• Basic knowledge of PennDOT EPS electronic permitting system.
• Familiarity with PennDOT and AASHTO design standards.
• Proficient with PennDOT design software and general engineering tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong drive to improve work products.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permits (HOP).
• Perform roadway and drainage design work.
• Design ADA ramps and related facilities.
• Develop maintenance and protection of traffic plans.
• Create pavement markings and signing layouts.
• Design pavement sections and review technical details.

Job description

Pennoni is seeking a Graduate/Associate Highway Engineer for the Transportation Division at their Lehigh Valley, PA office. The ideal candidate will be a person who is experienced in transportation engineering including PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit preparation and review, roadway design, drainage design, ADA ramp design, maintenance and protection of traffic plans, pavement marking and signing layouts, and pavement section design and review.

Required Attributes

• Experience/knowledge of PennDOT publications and design standards.
• Required education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum years of work experience: 1-5
• Licenses Required: EIT – Professional Engineer in PA preferred.
• Computer skills required: Basic knowledge of PennDOT’s electronic permitting system (EPS).
• Familiarity with current design standards (PennDOT, AASHTO).
• Efficient use of other applicable engineering software (StormCAD; Hydraflow Hydrographs; Hydraflow Storm Sewers; VTPSUHM, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Looks for and seizes opportunities to improve work products.
