Gannon University seeks graduate assistants for its physical therapy program. This role involves supporting first-year students through tutoring, lab sessions, and administrative tasks. Ideal candidates are flexible, effective communicators, and actively participate in student success initiatives.
The physical therapy program at Gannon University is committed to excellence in student-centered learning, with an emphasis on student-learning outcomes. Our graduate assistants play an important role in achieving these outcomes, working collaboratively with program faculty and colleagues as they assist in program operations, hosting open-lab times with first year students, tutoring as requested by the faculty, and in practice opportunities. Graduate assistants must maintain student confidentiality, display initiative, and be flexible with work requirements. This position is for students who will begin the second year of the DPT program.
1. Provide open lab and content review sessions for first-year students on a weekly basis
2. Provide individualized tutoring at the request of faculty
3. Assist first year students in preparing for practical examinations
4. Develop and implement orientation programs for newly accepted students on topics related to effective note taking strategies, time management, test taking strategies, wellness, and achieving balance
5. Maintenance of laboratory environments, including organization, set-up/cleanup, and inventory
6. Assist faculty with administrative tasks and grading as assigned
7. Participate in student recruitment opportunities
Career Readiness Competencies: Effectively frame communication with respect to diversity of learning styles, varied individual communication abilities, and cultural differences. Teamwork: Collaborate with faculty and the other GA’s to effectively complete all responsibilities and tasks.
