Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate student studying communications, marketing, media, journalism, information technology, or related fields.
• Engaging and confident communicator with strong verbal and written English skills, including technical writing, copy editing, and public speaking.
• Attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects and deadlines.
• Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
• Enrolled in a minimum of six graduate credits per semester during assistantship and in good academic standing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning communications campaigns and timelines.
• Assist in coordinating and carrying out communications tactics and content as outlined in campaign plans.
• Write content for various audiences, including informational and technical writing, marketing copy, shortform content, interviews, storytelling for publications.
• Proofread and edit written content for errors and improvement.
• Create simple graphics or visuals to support communications.
• Develop technology training documentation, shortform videos, or other engaging content.
• Act as a technology ambassador for student and employee outreach, leading tabling efforts, appearing at events, and giving presentations.
• Manage IT Solutions’ presence on the MavLife app.
• May include coordination of events, partnerships with other departments, or delivering promotional materials.
• Simple photography, videography, and graphic design (training provided, no prior experience necessary).
• All other duties as assigned.
