Job description

REPORTS TO: HEAD COACH, STUNT
STATUS: PART-TIME, EXEMPT

Lake Erie College, located in Painesville, OH, invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant, Stunt. Lake Erie College is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). The Graduate Assistant is responsible for duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Lacrosse and will manage a secondary responsibility as defined. This is a 10-month appointment, each year, for two consecutive years, pending successful evaluation at the end of year one.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as recruiter for the sport of Stunt identifying and evaluating potential students with that interest and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions.
  • Assists with organization of all aspects of the program, including coaching and management of facility, practice and team operations.
  • Provide aid to the head coach in accomplishing all of the Stunt team’s goals such as academic and athletic success as well as positive relationship building within the team, Lake Erie College, and surrounding community.
  • Help execute team fundraising efforts, including participation in camps and clinics.
  • Assists with team uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards where student-athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
  • Creates an environment and plans for the academic success of the team.
  • Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel for team practices, competition and scouting.
  • Assists with transportation of team in vans or bus, upon approval.
  • Follows all terms and conditions per the Policy for Graduate Assistants.
  • Follows all institutional, GMAC and NCAA regulations regarding men’s lacrosse and athletics in general.
  • Other duties as assigned by Head Coach, Stunt and Director of Athletics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:
  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management, or related field preferred.
  • Acceptance into a Lake Erie College graduate program required.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences.
  • Collegiate stunt experience preferred.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are knowledgeable about the Lake Erie College undergraduate student experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and approval for driving through the Business Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Strong organization skills with ability to attend to details.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified applicants will have the availability to work evenings and weekends, possess a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

All members of the department of athletics are responsible for knowing and following all institutional, Conference and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program. If regulations are not followed and result in a violation, employees are expected to self-report the violation to the compliance office or to the director of athletics. Additionally, employees must understand that those who knowingly violate, conceal, or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
