Job description

Join to apply for the Graduate Assistant Softball role at Wheeling University.

This position provides assistance to the head coach, including tactical play analysis, individual technical advice, and game knowledge. Other duties may be assigned.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coaching Assistance: Assist with player development, coordinate practice training and fitness sessions, assess individual players, and communicate responsibilities and roles.
2. Scouting and Recruiting Assistance: Support the Head Coach in scouting and recruiting, follow NCAA and university guidelines, assess athletic and academic performance, and coordinate scholarships.
3. General Support: Promote and support the university's sports programs and other related duties.

Performance Standards

• Perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Communicate effectively and professionally.
• Build rapport and motivate athletes.
• Identify and develop athlete potential.
• Support athlete growth outside comfort zones.
• Encourage strengths and suggest performance improvements.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree; enrolled in a WJU master's program; GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• At least one year of collegiate playing experience.

Physical and Work Environment

• Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional heavier loads.
• Work outdoors with exposure to weather and noise.

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Pass NCAA Compliance Exam.
• Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
