Position Summary

The CLAS Graduate Assistant Program Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the continuous hiring of 300 Graduate Assistants in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). The Graduate Assistant Program Administrator will work closely with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs to provide full cycle support to academic units in CLAS that hire Graduate Assistants. This will include developing processes, timelines and communication methods between the College and academic units and current/incoming Graduate Assistants. The Graduate Assistant Program Administrator will process all hiring documents (EPAF’s and Work Assignment Notices), tuition remissions and will work closely with units within CLAS, as well as partner units on campus (HR, Research & Graduate Studies, Office of Academic Affairs) to effectively hire, onboard and separate Graduate Assistants in CLAS. The Graduate Assistant Program Administrator will work with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs and other faculty and staff to develop and coordinate a comprehensive teacher education program (including Certificate of Innovation in College Teaching and antiracism training), focused on Graduate Teaching Assistant success both in the classroom and in the students’ academic program. This position will also provide enrollment management support to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs. This involves providing enrollment reports and analyses, and collaboratively communicating enrollment strategy to graduate programs.

Additionally, the Graduate Assistant Program Administrator will collect and report relevant information about graduate student career and workforce development with graduate student alumni engagement and provide operational support as needed to units in CLAS.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 to 4 years in higher education
  • Prior experience with project management and public outreach.
  • Professional skills, experience, and/or willingness to engage in activities that would enhance our campus equity and inclusion efforts in alignment the PSU President’s strategic priority of Acting on Equity and Racial Justice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, close attention to detail, and strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • The ability to be self-directed, flexible, proactive, think creatively, and work as a part of an administrative team.
  • Experience working with Graduate Assistant Employees
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps

Knowledge of Slate, Banner, and Datamaster
