Position Summary
Walsh University is a member of NCAA Division II that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Men's Basketball Grad Assistant will assist in the teaching and mentoring of team members relative to sport specific skills, NCAA II rules and regulations, individual and team development concepts as well as life skills education. Under the supervision of the Head Coach.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Coaching Duties: transportation, practices, meet preparation, educates and mentors student athletes in all aspects of their holistic development; mind, body and spirit.
- Recruiting and abiding by NCAA II compliance rules and legislation as well as educating student-athletes about those rules.
- All other duties as assigned or required

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education: A bachelor’s degree is required and acceptance into a Walsh Graduate Program
Work Experience: 3+ years experience as a collegiate basketball athlete.
Skills And Abilities
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook

- Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
- Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises in gymnasium/indoors/outdoors; whistles, crowd noise; yelling and screaming.
