Job description

Graduate Assistant, Library (Lineberger Collection)

Location: Hickory, North Carolina

The Carl A. Rudisill Library seeks a graduate assistant to support the Lineberger Collection. This position is responsible for providing supervisory, research, and customer service support within the library, and plays a key role in the promotion and maintenance of library resources and services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise undergraduate student library assistants during shared shifts related to the Lineberger Collection.
  • Use the library’s online catalog and databases to guide visitors to appropriate resources.
  • Assist with collection management tasks, including pulling and processing books for de-selection and addition to the collection.
  • Support the processing of interlibrary loan items.
  • Provide front-line customer service to library visitors at the circulation desk.
  • Participate in library outreach events to promote available resources and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Full-time enrollment in a graduate program at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service abilities.

Work Schedule

  • 25 to 29 hours per week.
  • Schedule will be determined in coordination with library staff and based on student availability.
