Job Summary

The responsibilities for this position include the following:

Student Services & Administrative Support (55%)

  • Respond to student, parent, and prospective student inquiries via email, phone, and in person regarding university applications.
  • Assist with Admissions, Financial Aid, and Health Services documentation while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Newnan Student Services office, including scheduling, logistics, and record-keeping.

Event Planning & Marketing (45%)

  • Plan, promote, and execute monthly student events.
  • Develop marketing materials (e.g., flyers via Canva) and social media content to engage students and the community.
  • Support initiatives to enhance the visibility and engagement of Newnan Student Services.
Required Qualifications

To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
  • Hold a Bachelor¿s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Availability to work at least two full 8-hour shifts per week.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience with event planning and marketing.
  • Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools for creating promotional materials.
  • Familiarity with university admissions, financial aid, and student services processes.
  • Ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently, including scheduling and record-keeping.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
