Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life (2 Positions Available)

Description of GA Assignment

The Fraternity and Sorority Life Graduate Assistant reports to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life includes a Director, two Graduate Assistants, one undergraduate intern, and an Administrative Associate. All staff members work together to facilitate leadership, involvement, and engagement by coordinating leadership development, providing support to our councils and students, and assisting with other FSL programs, activities and functions. Primary advising responsibilities are dependent upon the strengths and experience of the team members.

Responsibilities:

  1. Advise and assist specific officers and attend meetings of one of the three governing councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), or Panhellenic Council (PHC).
  2. Advise and assist with IFC and PHC formal and informal recruitment.
  3. Support fraternity and sorority chapter objectives, coaching individual chapter officers from designated chapters.
  4. Work with governing council officers on all-council collaborative programming efforts.
  5. Assist with office programs as needed, including service projects, Order of Omega, Greek Awards, Alcohol & Social Responsibility training, Greek Week, and annual leadership retreats.
  6. Communicate objectives and expectations between councils and the office.
  7. Experience in program creation.
  8. Actively participate on the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Team by attending weekly staff meetings, meeting weekly with supervisor, and assisting with office initiatives and programs.
  9. Conduct benchmarking research in all areas related to best practices in the field.
  10. Participate in opportunities for engagement within the LEAD Center.
  11. Participate in professional development opportunities.

  • Must be an active member of the Fraternity/Sorority community.
