POSITION SUMMARY
Graduate Assistants are student workers who contribute to the mission of Southeastern University while pursuing their graduate studies. This position will ass ist the college dean or administrative coordinator with administrative or project-related tasks, as assigned.
Graduate Assistants may also have the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses in their field of study, subject to approval by their respective College and the Office of the Provost.
This position does require work during the summer term.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
ADDITIONAL/NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Availability to work 20-29 hours per week, with flexibility around academic commitments. Familiarity with platforms such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, JICS, MyFire, statistical software, and/or learning management systems, specific to the position.
All remaining duties are considered "nonessential" within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position. Alternatively, the manager could try to provide a reasonable accommodation so that the disabled individual could perform the function.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Strong Organizational Skills
Understanding of academic programs, policies and systems
Strong communication skills both written and spoken
Strong basic productivity software skills including, Google Suites and the Microsoft Office Suites
Strong Christian character demonstrated in all aspect of life
DUTIES AND OTHER JOB RELATED ACTIVITIES:
Assist the Director, Teacher and Residential Director
Assist with classroom teaching and assessment grading
Knowledge of Library Database and Tools required
Assist with scheduling and administrative paperwork
Reproduce or generate classroom presentation materials
Assist Link faculty with advising
Other duties as assigned by the Director
Position is for fall, spring and summer semesters.

Must be available Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or as needed for special events; total hours not to exceed 29 hours each week (20 hours in summer).
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training is as follows:
Various safety and departmental training, as required by the supervisor.
All full-time positions and some student or Graduate Assistant positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University’s insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
