Department Information

Part of the position includes work in a virtual class setting (weekly graduate program support meetings) and this person will also host 3-4 online professional development workshops for the CME@GC. Local graduate assistants have the option to work as student directors in GC performing ensembles appropriate to their skills and experience, and as we have need for them.
- Directly work with graduate students and in-service teachers in virtual settings.
- The GA will offer or coordinate tutoring support as appropriate for the needs of our graduate music education students.
- Complete administrative and recruiting work with the graduate coordinator.
- Work with the mass communications practicum student on recruiting materials.

Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant - COAS - Music will provide educationally beneficial assistance to the music education coordinator and faculty.

Responsibilities

Administrative Support - 10
Assist the Music Education Coordinator.

Other Duties as Assigned - 10
The graduate assistant performs other duties as assigned and participates in staff, committee, and other university meetings as appropriate and at the request of supervisor.

Communication - 40
Maintain communication and support structures for graduate students enrolled in the MAT music education and MME degree programs

Recruiting and CME@GC - 40
Assist with program recruiting efforts and with ME@GC event hosting and planning.

Podcast editing and production in the Riverside app.

Other Required Qualifications
Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Other" attachment in application.

Maintain academic good standing. If a student's grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.

This position will work 19 hours per week.
- Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
- Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.

Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
