Job Summary: The Graduate Assistant for Acrobatics and Tumbling will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the intercollegiate acrobatics and tumbling program. This position is designed for a graduate student pursuing a degree at Wheeling University who has a passion for coaching and mentoring student-athletes. The Graduate Assistant will assist with training sessions, recruitment efforts, game day operations, and administrative tasks to ensure the success and growth of the acrobatics and tumbling program.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing training sessions, including skill development, strength conditioning, and team-building activities.
  2. Provide support during competitions, including setup, breakdown, and logistical coordination.
  3. Aid in the recruitment of student-athletes by attending high school competitions, communicating with prospective athletes, and assisting with campus visits.
  4. Assist with administrative tasks, such as maintaining team records, organizing travel arrangements, and managing equipment inventory.
  5. Collaborate with coaching staff to develop game strategies, analyze opponent performances, and provide feedback to student-athletes.
  6. Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, providing guidance on academic success, personal development, and sportsmanship.
  7. Uphold NCAA rules and regulations, as well as university policies, regarding student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, and conduct.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (required).
  2. Acceptance into a graduate program at Wheeling University (required).
  3. Previous experience as a participant or coach in acrobatics and tumbling (preferred).
  4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and university staff.
