Job description

We are seeking a thoughtful and design-driven Graduate Architect to join our growing team in Chicago, Illinois. This role is ideal for an emerging professional who is eager to translate academic exploration into built work while developing strong technical foundations. We are looking for someone with a strong aesthetic sensibility and a passion for iterative design exploration.

As a Graduate Architect, you will contribute to projects across all phases — from early concept through documentation — while building the skills and experience that prepare you for future growth into design and project leadership roles.

This is an opportunity to sharpen your design thinking, deepen your understanding of building systems, and contribute within a culture that values curiosity, rigor, sustainability, and craft.

Qualified candidates will:

  • Support concept development through sketches, diagrams, models, renderings, and visual storytelling.
  • Assist in preparing accurate, coordinated technical documentation.
  • Contribute to design studies that integrate materiality, systems, and sustainability strategies.
  • Develop iterative design options, massing studies, and aesthetic explorations to elevate the project's conceptual vision.
  • Actively participate in design charettes and internal critiques, bringing fresh aesthetic perspectives and conceptual rigor to the table.
  • Collaborate with project teams and consultants to advance cohesive design solutions.
  • Build working knowledge of building science, codes, materials, and building systems.
  • Maintain awareness of project goals, timelines, and team responsibilities.
  • Participate actively in firmwide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

Required criteria:

  • Professional degree in Architecture or related field.
  • A strong design portfolio which demonstrates exceptional conceptual thinking, aesthetic sensibility, and graphic communication skills.
  • Foundational proficiency in design authoring tools and BIM platforms.
  • Understanding of architectural concepts, sustainability frameworks, and building components
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to manage time, stay organized, and contribute positively within a team environment.
