What You’ll Do

Promote Safety. Take an active role prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure zero accidents and total compliance with all Vulcan policies and procedures. Will be responsible for leading day safety huddles.

Organize and Plan Operations. Plan the daily operation scheduling of construction projects to ensure optimal utilization of equipment, personnel and inventory requirements, and work procedures in regard to constructing roadways and grading drainage areas.

Manage Employee Relations. Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all employees on the job site in order to support the operational function of the business. Work cross-functionally with HR to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate the performance of employees in order to develop talent.

Monitor Processes and Materials. Analyze production and quality control to ensure a quality product is received by our customers. Be aware of the production needs, maintain contact with support; i.e. progress of the job, projected production per day, breakdowns, periodically monitor yield and overruns to assure compliance, etc.; and be aware of their operating status.

Maintain Compliance. Build a strong safety culture to ensure the project is in compliance with Vulcan’s safety, operations, and environmental policies and procedures. Manage the health and safety of employees to continuously improve the Vulcan’s health & safety performance.

Inspect Equipment and Perform Repairs. Ensures that operators properly maintain equipment, as well as fill out and turn in daily equipment inspection reports. Assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of the jobsite to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.

Skills You’ll Need

Experience. Previous experience in supervising employees in a construction environment is preferred.

Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.

Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock and sand mining, ready-mix concrete, and/or asphalt operations and equipment, OSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.

Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.

Financial Knowledge. Must possess knowledge and experience leading financial performance to established targets, meeting or exceeding performance goals.

Working Conditions. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
